Keynote Announcement!

Today is a great day! We have the please to announce that two fantastic educators will be sharing their knowledge with us at the Lake Michigan Tech Conference. These two educators fit our educational philosophy and the direction we are trying to take our schools. It is truly our pleasure to introduce the keynote speakers for the Lake Michigan Tech Conference.

Steve Dembo, or as he is known on Twitter, @teach42, is an educational pioneer and early believer in the power of educational technology tools to assist in the transformation of our educational structuring. Mr. Dembo was a kindergarten teacher, a director of technology for a school district, and Discovery Education’s Director of Learning Communities for ten years. Mr. Dembo has proven his commitment to education by serving on the Skokie/Morton Grove District 69 School Board.

Mr. Dembo has a strong belief in the power of social networking, educational technologies, and the power of digital content to help students improve. Mr. Dembo was interviewed for the #BRESA Tech Talk podcast, which you can to listen to here. You can also check out Mr. Dembo’s website here.

Ben Rimes, a Southwest Michigan native, currently is serving as the Director of Curriculum and Instructional Technology for Mattawan Consolidated Schools. Mr. Rimes has always looked beyond the shiniest technology tool to ensure that the tool actually assists students in learning and has a pedagogical purpose. Mr. Rimes has also reached beyond the walls of the schoolhouse to connect with educators across the state and around the world. Mr. Rimes is a co-founder of the #michED that has allowed for online conversations around education and educational policies in the state of Michigan.
